Underage Results

Our U16 boys made it through to the Div 1 championship final with a victory over Lilliput Gaels on Monday evening. The visitors got off to a great start. It took our lads some time to settle into the game but we went in at the break leading by 2.04 to 1.04. A vastly improved second half saw The Downs notch up some excellent scores and ran out winners on a scoreline of 3.15 to 2.07. We wish Luke Robinson from Lilliput Geals a speedy recovery after he suffered an injury in the first half. The date for the final is yet to be confirmed but it will be against Shandonagh.

Our U14 Division 5 team unfortunately came out second best to a rampant St. Joseph’s side on Wednesday evening last. We now look forward to a shield final against Caulry in the coming weeks.

Congratulations to Minor Boys on their Championship Quarter Final win   against Athlone GAA on Sunday morning in The Downs.

Congratulations to Minor Boys on their Championship Quarter Final win against Athlone GAA on Sunday morning in The Downs. The boys played very well in the 1st half and were fully deserving of their half time lead of 1-7 to 1-2. In a tight and competitive game, Athlone responded very well in the 2nd half and deservedly took the lead by one point mid-way through. However, the response from our boys was fantastic as they showed great character and patience in scoring six unanswered points. The game was only finally put beyond Athlone with a 2nd Downs goal with about 7 minutes to go. The final whistle sounded on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-5. The team are now looking forward to their semi-final.

Pat Walsh Memorial

We hosted Ballivor (Meath), Na Fianna (Offaly), St.Vincents (Offaly), Moate, Shandonagh, Killucan & St.Lomans for our annual Pat Walsh Memorial event in Breedon Molly Park on Sunday 22nd.There was no shortage of teamwork, skill and determination on display from all teams involved. Congratulations to Na Fianna, St.Vincents, Killucan & Shandonagh on winning their respective finals. A very enjoyable day for all involved and that's down to the great sportsmanship of all players, coaches & supporters.
