On Tuesday evening last, the Division 6 team were winners against Ballycomoyle on a score-line of 1-15 to 1-04. Well done to all.
The Division 1 team gave themselves too much to do after a poor start against Mullingar Shamrocks on Thursday evening last. Two early goals for Shamrocks left The Downs chasing the game and ultimately couldn’t catch the Mullingar men despite a good effort in the second half. Full time score The Downs 1-13 Mullingar Shamrocks 2 – 12.
The Division 3 team unfortunately also lost out to Casteldaly away from home on Sunday morning by a sinle point. Final score: Casteldaly 1-14 The Downs 0-16.
Underage Results
Our wonderful U8’s travelled to Ballynacargy for Saturday’s Go Games facing the hosts, St. Paul’s and CFCW. Both Downs teams performed excellently with all players improving their basic skills with every kick. Many thanks to Ballynacargy who were wonderful hosts as usual and of course all the parents and coaches for their time.
Under 10’s in Cusack Park
Our U10 boys were delighted to be selected to play at half time during last Sunday’s Tailteann cup fixture in Cusack Park. They put on a great display for the crowd against St Joseph's and Lilliput Gaels. Well done to all. Congratulations to Westmeath on a brilliant performance. Na Dúnta lads Luke, Johnny, Kevin & Joe are fantastic role models for these young lads.
LGFA Results
The U16 girls recorded their first win of the league at home on Tuesday night against Multy. Our girls fought extremely hard to hold on for a two-point win in the searing heat of Breedon Molloy Park. Well done to all
The U12 girls fielded 2 teams also at home on Tuesday evening against Mullingar Shamrocks. Some great football on show from both sides.

Sympathy
We extend our sincere sympathy to John Gavin as well as the Shields family on the very sad passing of Kathleen O’Hara late of Newdown, The Downs, Mullingar.
