Our U12’s had a fantastic battle in the Garrycastle tournament first round this week. End to end action – the lads delivered a great performance to earn themselves a well-deserved draw against Shandonagh. The same team came up against a strong Ballycomoyle side this week in the league. The boys worked hard never giving up until the final whistle but came out on the wrong side of this one.
Both U14 squads were in championship action this week also. The Division 4 team travelled to Castledaly coming up against a stronger side on the night. Final score 8-07 to 3-04. The Division 1 team faced St. Lomans in their third round fixture. The lads showed great fighting spirit in a game that was laced with goals. They just came up short suffering a one-point defeat. Final score The Downs 4-16 St. Lomans 7-08

The Downs Senior Ladies faced Miltown in their 2nd game of the Championship last Thursday evening in the Downs. Miltown hit the net within seconds of the throw in and continued their goal scoring form hitting the net twice more in the first half. The Downs battled hard with Beth McGuire pointing 4 of the Downs 6 first half scores. The teams went in at the break 3-6 to 0-6. The Downs Ladies had a better 2nd half, matching the Miltown Ladies score for score, but Milltown’s first half goal tally remained the difference at the final whistle. Final score Na Dunta 2-12, Miltown 5-12
There was a fantastic battle in the Downs on Friday evening as our Junior ladies took on Cill Oige in their second Championship outing.
The two sides could not be separated at the final whistle The Downs 3-8 Cill Oige 0-17. It was fantastic to see so many of our minor girls on the score sheet, and putting in fine performances all over the pitch. Well done to all.
The U16’s contested a hard fought battle with St. Paul’s Delvin last Tuesday evening. The girls battled ferociously but came up short to a physically stronger St. Pauls side. Final score 1-17 to 4-04.
The U14’s had a comprehensive win in their re-fixed game against Moate this week away from home.
