Best of Luck to Coláiste Mhuire

Best of luck to Colaiste Mhuire’s senior team on their upcoming All-Ireland final on St. Patrick’s. Our chairman and Secretary Aiden McGuire and Shane Carroll visited Coláiste Mhuire during the week in support of not only our seven representatives on the team but the entire panel. We are represented by Michael Moloney, Eoin Mullin, Cian Loughlin, Conor Cleary, Aaron Connaire and Eoin Daly. We wish our own lads and the rest of the Coláiste Mhuire team and management the very best of luck in the final. The whole of Westmeath are behind you.



Bus for Coláiste Mhuire Game on St. Patrick’s Day

Here in The Downs we are making it possible for everyone in the club to travel to Croke Park on St. Patrick’s Day by organising a bus for club members. If interested please contact Caroline Coyne 0876743407 or Owen Walters 0863198459. Cost is €12 per person. First come, first served. 

Underage Registration is now Open

Underage registration is now open for our boys and girls. Please visit www.thedownsgaa.com or see our Facebook/Instagram platforms for details. New members always welcome. We cater for all ages from nursery up to minor age groups. We have 4 floodlit pitches, covered stand and terrace, a lit walking track, new gym under construction, clubhouse, coffee hut, new state of the art playground. We run Easter/Summer Cúl Camps, an annual family funday, Adult Scór, Scór na nÓg, Gaelic for Mothers and Other, LGFA Gaelic for teens to name but a few of what we can offer. Please come down and have a look or contact any committee member for further information.

Senior Scór

Congratulations to our senior Scór solo singer Grace Ní Domhnaill and set dancers on their recent success in the Senior Scór county final.The county champions received their medals from Westmeath GAA Chairperson Paddy Wallace alongside Scór Iarmhí Cathaoirleach Olive Leonard. 
 
Attention now turns to the Leinster semi-final, which will take place in Wilkinstown Hall, Co Meath, on Sunday, March 22 at 2pm, where Westmeath’s winners will once again take to the stage and represent the county with pride.

Congratulations

We congratulate to of our senior footballers Dean Clarke and Trevor Fitzpatrick on their recent marriages. Both men are part of the management team of The Downs LGFA also. We congratulate Dean and Aoife and Trevor and Catherine and wish them all health and happiness in their married lives together.

Practice for Irish Oral Exams

Our Irish Language Officer Deirdre O’Connell has organised practice sessions for any club members sitting Leaving Cert oral exams. They take place on March 18th and 24th from 7 – 8 in the clubhouse. Please contact Deirdre to reserve your spot on 09779014404. Many thanks to Deirdre for organising.
