LGFA
A busy but successful week for our ladies’ club with 3 wins of note. Firstly, the U16 girls recorded a hard fought win in the championship against a strong Killucan side. A high scoring game of which our girls came out on top on a score-line of 3-11 to 2-17. Congratulations to all.
Next up is a victory for our spirited U14 team who faced a very strong St. Mary’s Rochfortbridge side in the second round of the Division 4 championship at home last Thursday evening. An evenly contested game saw our girls on right side of 5-05 to 2-02 score-line. Great work from the whole panel.
Finally, our senior ladies were in action against Moate in the first round of the Village Barn Senior Championship. The girls turned in a very good performance to record their first win away to Moate in near perfect weather conditions for a game of football. The final score read The Downs 4-08 Moate 1-03.

Many thanks to all those who volunteered their time last Saturday evening when we hosted two Westmeath championship hurling games. The event went like clockwork due to the hard work from all our fantastic club members whom we value immensely. Thanks again to all involved.
We also extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Pat Leavy and Anthony Rowan for maintenance work completed at the grounds this week. Your time and effort is very much appreciated by all at the club.
Well done
Well done to Aaron Connaire, Conor Cleary and Finn Brennan who all represented Westmeath U14 against Offaly last Saturday.
